We need to avoid selling the raw material and create wealth through production of technology
The second Qazvin's Startup Weekend came to an end after a 3- day showcasing of innovative ideas, culminating in the announcement of the top ideas.
This event which was held in different cities in Iran is a venue where young entrepreneurs introduce their new ideas. In QIAU' Startup weekend this year, 11 business plans were approved and elaborated on by the innovators, taking a total of 54 hours.
Attending the closing ceremony of this event along with Dr. Tavakkoli, the head of IAU' Technology Incubator as well as Dr. Khavandkar, from University of Tehran' s School of Entrepreneurship, Dr. Morteza Mousakhani , the president of QIAU welcomed all guests and thanked the organizers of this event. He also expressed his happiness for the promising opportunities the country is experiencing these days.
Dr. Mousakhani added: Now many constructive efforts are ongoing in different fields ,in particular, in entrepreneurship in Iran. We hope Iran will reach a point where we could avoid selling the raw material and create wealth through production of technology.
The president of QIAU said: The failures in Startup event should not discourage you. You should enhance your performance and try to offer solutions to those failures. Today, the conditions are conducive for capitalizing on the existing opportunities. We as academic community are at your service, supporting your ideas.
Dr. Mouskahni who is the top entrepreneur in 2005 in Iran went on saying: when it comes to commercialization of ideas, we have several propositions at the outset. We need to test out these proposed ideas . Many ideas are given by many individuals. Yet, those ideas which are nurtured and developed, leading to value creation are worthwhile investment.
The wide-ranging ages of the attendees at the event was one of the features catching the interest of many audience. The youngest participant was a 14 year old teenager and the oldest one was 44 years old .
At the end, three ideas were selected as the top ideas and the innovators of these ideas were awarded prizes sponsored by Uiliver Co. and QIAU.
